Updated: Jun 3

Looking for an enjoyable and unique way to improve your fitness? Groove Studio is your option! You can receive a full-body workout and feel the exhilaration of being suspended in mid-air with aerial silk, aerial hoop or aerial hammock classes.

Groove Studio, which is conveniently located near Bras Basah and Bencoolen MRT Stations, has been offering pole and aerial classes since 2005. The full-length mirrors, three moods of lighting, and colourful aerial fabric, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere for our students.

Our aerial silk class is one of our most well-liked. You will learn from the basic of how to move around the fabric to how to move gracefully and execute acrobatic feats on fabric that is rigged from the ceiling in the class. Experience the thrill of flight and defying gravity!

Aerial silk is an excellent kind of exercise in addition to being graceful to look at. You engage your arms, legs, and core while moving your body on the silk, strengthening and conditioning your muscles. Your flexibility and balance will be improved by the continuous motion and changes. It is an unparalleled full-body workout.

If you are new to aerial silk classes, do not worry! Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way. They will teach you the proper techniques and progressions, ensuring your safety and helping you to build confidence in your abilities. Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, our classes are designed to cater to all levels.

Here are some tips to get the most out of your aerial silk classes at Groove Studio:

1. Wear comfortable athletic attire: Choose clothing that allows you to move freely and comfortably. Leggings and a fitted sleeve top are ideal as this cover the back of your knees, armpits and upper torso. Avoid loose or baggy clothing that may get caught between fabric. Cotton material for the leggings with stretching quality is recommended.

2. Warm-up and Cool Down: Before starting your aerial silk class, it is essential to warm up your body, stretch your muscles and to do conditioning. This will help prevent injuries and improve your performance. Our instructors will spend about 15 to 20 min to do warm-up with you. At the end of a class, it is a must to cool down to avoid too much muscle aching int the next few days; our instructors will learn you in the cool down exercise.

3. Listen to your body: Aerial silk can be challenging, especially when you are starting afresh. Take frequent rests when needed and do not push yourself too hard. It is important to listen to your body and give it the rest it needs. During the class, stretch out your tight arm muscles or tight fingers frequently.

4. Enjoy the process and exercise patience: Aerial silk is a skill that takes time to master. Do not get discouraged if you cannot perform certain moves right away. Enjoy the learning process, celebrate small victories, and with practice, you shall improve.

5. Endure the pain: You will experience pain when you are learning silk poses. This is perfectly normal especially when it is your first time on silk. The tension is required to do poses mid-air and the fabric would tighten your body and limbs. Overtime, your body will get accustomed to the fabric tightness and you will not feel any pain. During the class, always communicate with our instructors of your comfort level so that they could customise poses in accordance with your body type.
